A fantastic day for Spartans Youth Under 14’s (2004) as they won the SYFA Scottish Cup beating St Andrews BC of Greenock 4-0, at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium.
Spartans took the lead in incredible fashion, Louis McLachlan scoring straight from kick off. Timed at 5 seconds, surely the quickest ever goal in a Scottish Youth Cup Final.
Centre Half Oscar MacIntyre doubled Spartans lead after 22 minutes, meeting McLachlan’s corner with a bullet header.
Second half goals by Jacksen Lynch and a last minute winner by Sean Burrell sealed a well deserved win for the Ainslie Park boys.
A wonderful performance by Spartans who were delighted to lift the inspireport Scottish Cup in front of an army of loyal Spartans fans at Excelsior stadium.
Louis McLaghlan’s unforgettable opening goal….
Later in the day Spartans 2002 took to the pitch at the Excelsior stadium in their U16s Scottish Cup Final against Glendale. Despite a tremendous effort they came away as runners-up after a strong performance by their opponents. A great effort by Spartans and next year we hope they’ll go one step further… well done guys!
